First Season Production

Two estranged brothers meet in their deceased father’s apartment to dig through his belongings, finally unearthing the hidden motives for events that long ago fractured their relationship. An American classic, The Price asks the timeless question: how do we measure the value of our lives? In celebration of Arthur Miller’s centennial, Tony Award® winner Garry Hynes directs this provocative new production.

The Value

In 1968, the year that The Price debuted, $1 was worth the equivalent of $6.79 today: A $2.50 movie ticket would be equal to $17 today; Walter’s $3,000 estimate for the furniture would be equivalent to $20,000 today, and his $25,000 estimate for tax purposes would be nearly $170,000. Additionally, the $1 million pre Depression fortune of Victor and Walter’s father would be worth over $25 million.
