Your impact:

• On average, over 6,000 students from more than 100 schools participate in our arts education programs on an annual basis.
• Over 55% of students attending a Student Matinee performance said it was their first time experiencing a professional theatre production.
• Approximately 77% of schools participating in our arts education programs qualify as Title I, meaning that over 40% of students receive reduced or free lunch.

Sustain the next generation of theatremakers and arts managers through the Academy for Theatre Leadership’s suite of workforce development programs.

Your impact:

• Over 1,000 alumni of our workforce readiness programs are working in theatre and related fields around the nation, many of them in leadership positions.
• 35 interns, fellows, apprentices, and observers hosted during the 2023/24 Season.
• Over 400 high school, college, and early career individuals participate across three college and career fairs each season.

Bring the art of theatre directly to community and bring community to our theatres.

Your impact:

• Since 2014, 74 plays have been performed by over 25 theatre partners and 14 playwrights have been commissioned through the Community Play Readings program.
• Over 43 free family-friendly workshop sessions offered in community spaces in connection with all 2024/25 Season productions.
• Approximately 5,000 tickets distributed to not-for-profit and educational organizations at no cost each year through our In The House program.

Invest in the fresh new voices of Los Angeles theatre as they create new work and develop networks with fellow artists and institutions.

Your impact:

• To date, 119 playwrights have participated in the LA Writers’ Workshop since its inception in 2005, with alumni including Aleshea Harris, Larissa FastHorse, and Luis Alfaro.
• Over 1,500 audience members attend the LA Writers’ Workshop Festival at the Kirk Douglas Theatre each season, enjoying a sneak peek into new plays in development by local playwrights.
• Over 20 active commissions and co-commissions with playwrights and theatre partners across the country.

“My journey with CTG’s New Play Development Programs began in 2011 when I was a member of their Writers’ Workshop. There, along with a half a dozen fellow playwrights, I was able to develop my play Harry and the Thief. Little did I know that that work would be performed all over the country — from Austin to NYC — become my first published play, and open doors for me in my career.
