Once Upon A Mattress Cast Announced

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 25, 2024)—On the heels of its critically acclaimed return to Broadway, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS makes its West Coast premiere in a new adaptation by Emmy Award winner Amy Sherman-Palladino (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Gilmore Girls”), directed by Tony Award nominee and Drama League Award winner Lear deBessonet (Into The Woods) at Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre December 10, 2024 to January 5, 2025. Sutton Foster in Once Upon a Mattress Announced

LOS ANGELES (May 17, 2024) — Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Snehal Desai and Managing Director / CEO Meghan Pressman, along with Producing Director Douglas C. Baker, announce Sutton Foster starring in “Once Upon a Mattress,” which will come to the Ahmanson Theatre direct from a just announced Broadway run in December. "Once Upon a Mattress” completes programming at the Ahmanson for the “One CTG. One LA.” 2024/25 Season; the first full slate of programming under Desai’s leadership since joining the company in August.

Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends Announced

LOS ANGELES (April 8, 2024) — Center Theatre Group (CTG) is pleased to announce the North American premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, starring Bernadette Peters (Gypsy, Annie Get Your Gun) and Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Here Lies Love), and directed by Sir Matthew Bourne (Swan Lake, My Fair Lady), playing at the Ahmanson Theatre from February 8—March 9, 2025. The production is the first to be announced from Center Theatre Group’s upcoming 2024/25 season. Additional season programming will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Casting Announced for Hamlet

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 9, 2025)— Center Theatre Group presents the premiere of a new, Hitchcockian noir take on Hamlet by William Shakespeare, from director Robert O’Hara. The production will run May 28 to July 6, 2025 (press opening June 4) at the Mark Taper Forum, as the sixth offering of Center Theatre Group’s One CTG. One LA. Casting Announced for Premiere of Fake It Until You Make It.

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 15, 2025) — Casting has been announced for Center Theatre Group’s world premiere of Fake It Until You Make It, by Larissa FastHorse, the first Native American playwright to be featured at the Mark Taper Forum. Fake It Until You Make It will be directed by Michael John Garcés. It is a co-production with Arena Stage, Washington D.C.

Green Day’s American Idiot Extended By Popular Demand

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 10, 2024)—Center Theatre Group and Deaf West Theatre join together for the all-new production of global rock superstars Green Day’s legendary rock opera, American Idiot, directed by Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Snehal Desai. Following a celebratory Opening Night on October 9 and an incredible sales pace for the original engagement, the companies have announced a six-performance extension of the show, which has already become one of the Mark Taper Forum’s biggest hits in its history—establishing itself as the Taper’s third-highest grossing show of all-time, while also currently out-pacing any previous Taper production.

Casting Announced for Green Day’s American Idiot

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 28, 2024)—Center Theatre Group is joining Deaf West Theatre to launch a new production of global rock superstars Green Day’s legendary rock opera, American Idiot, the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical. The show will run from October 2 to November 10, 2024, re-opening the Mark Taper Forum, as the first offering of Center Theatre Group’s One CTG. One LA. Season, which was previously announced by Artistic Director Snehal Desai, Managing Director/CEO Meghan Pressman, and Producing Director Douglas C. Baker. The press opening for American Idiot is Wednesday, October 9. With this production, CTG Artistic Director Snehal Desai will be making his CTG directorial debut. Jennifer Weber (Broadway: & Juliet, KPOP) is the choreographer; Colin Analco (Deaf West: Fidelio) is the ASL choreographer.
