Celebrate the life and work of the great Stephen Sondheim, with an irresistible company headlined by none other than Tony Award® winners Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga. Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends comes to the Ahmanson from London’s West End, where it earned a bevy of 5-star raves and was hailed by The Times as “unmissable musical theatre.”
We are thrilled to welcome beloved director Matthew Bourne back to the Ahmanson Theatre in this glorious new production devised by renowned producer Cameron Mackintosh that will feature the return of Lea Salonga (last seen at the Mark Taper Forum in Flower Drum Song), along with Bernadette Peters making her long- awaited CTG debut.
Center Theatre Group will present the North American premiere of Old Friends at the Ahmanson Theatre in advance of the Broadway premiere at the Manhattan Theatre Club on March 25, 2025.

Cat Kid and Molly Pollywog have started an epic club to teach 21 rambunctious baby frogs how to make their own comics! Their fishy father Flippy is overjoyed that his kids will learn to unleash their creativity, but when the frogs’ constant bickering and outrageous imaginations send their comics comically off the rails, Flippy flips out! Will the club survive? Will the frogs ever get along? And will creativity finally save the day? All will be answered in this madcap musical based on Dav Pilkey’s irreverently hilarious book series.
