A séance? No, but close enough. Consider yourself summoned to resurrect Shakespeare's 500 year old language in an actor's workshop setting with Ariel Shafir (currently onstage at the Mark Taper Forum as Claudius in Robert O’Hara’s new adaptation of Hamlet).

Out of thin air, Ariel, your guide, will offer practical alchemy as you transmute words into actions, actions into character, and character into journey. Select participants will bring in a prepared Shakespeare scene or monologue (2-3 minutes max) for experimentation while remaining participants observe, followed by Q&A.

About Community Programs

Since 2013, Center Theatre Group has partnered with local artists, organizations, schools, libraries, and other groups to enrich cultural conversations in L.A. neighborhoods and to encourage Angelenos to bring the art of theatre deeper into their lives, and to use it to share and explore their own stories.

Through free workshops, events, productions, discussions, and other activities that take place at traditional and nontraditional venues, we connect with community members and artists throughout our city, and join in and facilitate inclusive and thoughtful cultural conversations.
