Join us this June to freshen up your skills, investigate new approaches, and connect deeply with the art of theatre and your own personal creativity.
Details
Designed to help educators find meaning and enjoyment in the arts, educators will develop new skills and approaches that they can share with their students. There is no cost to participate and no experience is necessary.
ELIGIBILITY
All educators working with young people are eligible to apply. Los Angeles County middle and high school theatre teachers in under-resourced communities will receive priority for enrollment.

Monday and Tuesday, June 16–17 | 10am–4pm
Devising in the Classroom
This two-day workshop will use an existing story to explore the foundational theory of devised theatre and use the collaborative creative process to create short original performances.

Up Your Game!
Need some new games in your toolbox? Participate in a variety of ensemble-building games for all ages that generate buy-in, establish trust, and build foundational theatre skills.

An Introduction to Viewpoints
Move through a series of Viewpoints exercises designed to help you listen deeply, respond truthfully, and expand your movement vocabulary.

Wednesday, June 25 | 10am–4pm
Puppet Lab: Shadow Puppetry
Explore the science of shadow play! Learn about various styles of shadow puppetry around the world and create your own mini shadow puppet show.
Note: This workshop requires sitting, kneeling, bending, and other physical movement.

Thursday, June 26 | 10am–4pm
Trauma Sensitive Theatre Practices
Learn theories from somatic practices, intimacy choreography and trauma specialists that will help you work with populations that have experienced trauma, navigate charged performance material, and handle moments of emotional overwhelm in your classroom or rehearsal space.
